2022: Who will you serve?

Hey DBE family,

I hope you are all keeping well. Thanks for tuning in for another read. And Happy New Year (first post of the year)! Now, God has given me this beautiful word which actually came towards the end of last year. It won't be a long one, but I believe it will bless you.

We will be looking at two key scriptures and just digging into it a little. As I was reading Matthew 4 the other day (the temptation of Jesus), one specific part of the temptation really stuck out to me. It was when the devil said to Jesus "all these I will give you (the kingdoms of the world and their glory) if you fall down and worship me." God forbid you may be thinking! Now that was my exact thought as I was reading through this verse. Why would anyone want to bow down to the devil and worship him? But I kept hearing this word in my spirit, who will you serve?

Yes, who will you serve?

The response Jesus gave was "You shall worship the Lord your God and Him only shall you serve". It's easy for us to say this, but the amount of people who have fallen into the trap of bowing down and worshipping the devil unknowingly is numerous. When people are in difficulties, or when they are waiting on God it is very easy for them to take shortcuts, and unfortunately in some cases they end up bowing down. On the other hand, there are times where people receive their blessing, their promises from God, and they become so entangled and again, they bow down.

I ask you again, who will you serve?

These open doors may come through temptation, or it could even be when you get those things that you have been waiting on God for that you start to serve another god.

Let's go into that point really quickly.

"No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money"

The truth is that you will receive many blessings in 2022. This may come in the form of money, peace, people, relationships, a job etc... But a question I want us to remember throughout the year is, who will I serve? Will I serve the devil (by being impatient and taking shortcuts for the things of this world) or will I serve God and others with all the things that God blesses me with. The ball is in your court!

May we not fall into the trap of serving the wrong god. As we go through 2022, let us remember to continue to serve God (Elohim) as we proceed throughout the year.

I pray that as Joshua said in Joshua 24:15, you will be able to confidently say, as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord!

Wishing you a blessed and fruitful 2022.

Love you all!

Maria xx
